Season 6, Episode 1: Swipe Right for Love Recap
Season 6 starts and with the new host of Are You The One, Terence J, formerly known as the host of Bet’s 106 & Park. Immediately, the contestants are thrown into a challenge that is reminiscent of Tinder with its swipes. The female contestants are shown items that the male contestants consider important to them and the first 3 picks will earn a date.
The first item is a football and Audrey is first to raise her hand and her reason is “uhh I just like the sport, watching it and playing it”. Date number one goes to Audrey and she’s going on a date with Fine Ass Malcolm. Of the guys of season 6, Malcolm is my favorite physically for reasons later discovered in this episode. Next there is a picture of a piano, which leads Keyana to score a date with Ethan. With all girls denying interest in a photo of inspirational/religious bracelets, Clinton loses his opportunity at a date. The last picture is a condom and Jada shoots her hand up, scoring a date with Shad.
Per tradition, the housemates enter the house and the turn up and mingling commences. Keyana, who landed a date with Ethan, notices her Instagram crush, Michael, and is all over him throughout this episode, leaving poor Ethan in the shadows. Keyana reveals personal things of her past to Michael and they make out in the shower and state they have to get in that Truth Booth.
Malcolm admitted to being a ladies man in the past but claims he is not anymore. Malcolm and Diandra are getting close and she makes the mistake of thinking that makes them automatically in a relationship.

Alexis and Keith are poolside, chatting it up leading to the first Boom Boom Room hookup and Keith "puts it down" pretty well.
The winners of the dates go on their date to the French Quarter to a bar, and the remaining housemates have to vote them in the truth booth. The fact that the housemates are like "Ohhhh they both like music" and that's why they're voting Ethan and Keyana in the truth booth, shows these people aren't gonna be making the best decisions already.
Of course, the truth booth reveals Ethan and Keyana are not a match clearly and the house decides to play Dare that night. The game allows people to open up and leads to a lot of realizations by some of the cast, like Audrey realizing Malcolm saying he is not a player was some BS.
When you already got 3 girls in the house sprung...
When introduced to Nurys and her antics, I can’t help but feel like I’ve seen this before *clears throat* Alicia, season 5. However, this is only episode 1 and it annoys me how attached some of the people on Are You The One? get after such a short time.
Nurys and Malcolm are having a conversation, where Malcolm admits he loves Spanish women (of course) and Diandra gets jealous of them getting to know each other and claims that is her man in her confessional.
But Malcolm definitely snuck away to make out with Nurys and ....
GIRLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL! That print had me like ooooooooohhhhhhkayyyyy Malcolm.
After finally letting my clenched pearls rest, I realized there wasn't going to be a light ceremony this episode like WTF!! Next week, check back for my match predictions and more recaps.
